The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Northwest Georgia Chapter sponsors three main programs that benefit our service area. These programs are Economic Development, Education, and Health.

Economic Development

The Economic Development program provides education and financial planning skills to disadvantaged women living in Cobb, Cherokee and Douglas counties as well as to Chapter members. The goals of this program include the following:

  • To provide financial counseling through workshops and seminars
  • Increase homeownership rates for minorities
  • Decrease foreclosure rates for minorities.

With these goals in mind, the Economic Development program developed initiatives to provide credit education and financial workshops as well as training and meetings that help participants improve their life skills, interpersonal skills, and relationships.

Education

The Education program seeks to raise the level of quality education in public schools systems for the areas in which we live and serve. The goals of this program are as follows:

  • Monitor city, state, and federal educational systems to ensure access to quality education for the disadvantaged
  • Conduct educational seminars and workshops
  • Provide informational resources to chapter members and other organizational affiliates on educational opportunities
  • Provide career training for young adults in the communities in which we serve.

One of the initiatives of the Education program include an Effective Study Habits Workshop in which Boys & Girls Club members learn effective study habit skills and college preparation techniques. Club members also take a college campus tour. This program also provides a Financial Entrepreneur Workshop for club members.

Health

The Health program focuses on health care systems in the area in which we live and serve and their ability to provide adequate care to minorities. This program seeks to provide the following services:

  • Update Chapter members on the healthcare industry and current trends
  • Actively address health care issues that affect minorities and the disadvantaged

The Health program includes an initiative to advocate HIV/AIDS Awareness for Chapter members and the community and promotes a 100 for 100 Wellness program for Chapter members.
